Cacao Kitchen: Episode 2

Cacao Kitchen: Episode 2

In the second episode of our ongoing collaboration with Therapy Kitchen, Charlotte shows us how to make a cup of cacao using milk and sweetener, giving the impression of a more modern interpretation of hot chocolate, whilst maintaining the purity and integrity of the ingredients.

Without further ado, heres more from Charlotte:

Taking a kitchen adventure with cacao is the most nourishing way to be playful with oneself and each other, that’s why creating these Cacao Kitchen moments feels soooo good! One of the ways we are doing this in Kitchen Therapy is by reparenting ourselves, finding ways to nurture our being, and honouring cherished memories.

Each part of the story – the jug, cup, and pan, flavours, and key ingredients are chosen with thought and care, connecting us with our wider world.  Memories and moments with loved ones are all part of the scene as a nourishing pot of cacao takes to the stage.

Theatre and play are our first form of therapy, reflecting human emotions to us, and cooking is the first ever story that takes us into time, the before, during, and possibly ever after… Making a cup of cacao with a well-chosen milk, slightly sweetened with date syrup and a secret twist of salt (always!) has the taste of tradition, comfort, and care in a cup. In this recipe, I’ve used my grandmother’s milk jug, adding a glug of everyday magic.

How to make a nourishing cup of Cacao

First:

pause and give yourself a moment

Prepare:

dress your actors. Today, my milk was poured into Grandma’s favourite milk jug, prettily sitting in the wings

Dont Rush:

create the scenery and set the tone as feels right today, here a touch of sweetener and the milk of your choice

Stir:

our protagonist, cacao takes to the stage, making her entrance with slow authority, allowing her presence to be soaked into her audience…
