Cacao Kitchen: Episode 3

Cacao Kitchen: Episode 3

In the Third episode of our ongoing collaboration with Therapy Kitchen, Charlotte shows us how to make an infusion from orange peels and spices. Made consciously and slowly with the intention to return to it once steeped and make a delicious cup of orange cacao (more on that next episode).

Without further ado, here's more from Charlotte:

Today’s cacao story is about the power of our intentions, like the gentle sifting and shifting in the mind to land where we need to be in a space of calm, curious connection with ourselves and the world we share. Kitchen therapy is about finding the magic in our fingertips, changing the world a little with our intentional action. At the end of a busy day, a few moments of taking the time to experience the sensations of the ingredients we choose can lead to a delicious infusion to sleep and settle with you overnight, up and ready to go in the morning. Taking that time gives us a chance to catch up with our nervous system and orient ourselves inward.

This process of mindfully choosing and enjoying each ingredient and moments of a slow infusion, creates what I have come to call 'attention alchemy’* - the potential for change at our fingertips as we prepare each meal, adding in the most important spice of all - our tender loving care, replete with powerful if subtle intentions for now and onwards.

How to make a spiced Orange Infusion

First:

Gather a pot and your ingredients together, and notice their unique qualities

Now:

Take time to enjoy the process of making a water infusion ready to boil and bubble its way into your morning cup of cacao - peeling the orange, revealing its glow, adding the cloves, inhaling their medicine, picking the cinnamon and wishing it well as it joins the pot, everything infused with your playful attention to details and potentials

Then:

Pop in the fridge to rest overnight whilst you dream

Ready:

To face the next day.
