Cacao Kitchen: A Spiced Cup

Cacao Kitchen: A Spiced Cup

In the final episode of the first season of our ongoing collaboration with Therapy Kitchen, Charlotte uses the spiced orange infusion prepared in the last episode to make a cup of cacao. Using carefully sourced ingredients and processes that allow for self-reflection, dreaming, and gratitude.

Without further ado, here's more from Charlotte:

Today, our time with cacao is focused on its ability to re-parent us, giving us a sense of being attended to and attuned with. Full of natural, protective goodness (more antioxidants than blueberries) and promoting heart health with high levels of zinc, iron, and magnesium. Cacao is also blessed with bliss chemicals like serotonin and phenylethylamine who spark the release of dopamine and oxytocin – hence its association with love and gratitude.

We often forget that dopamine is a relational hormone, designed by Nature to reward bonding behaviours. That’s what our ‘cacao kitchen’ series has been all about: deepening our relationship with the sacred cacao and ourselves as part of our daily self-care rituals.
Using water prepared the night before, steeped in our loving intentions, we start the day sipping a sense of gratitude to ourselves and, of course, for the world around us that brings these incredible ingredients to our fingertips. That, my friends, is where the magic lies, in our intentional actions that make us take the time to care, consider, and connect with cacao, which, in turn, fills us with the very essence of Mother Nature’s loving nutrition.

How to make a spiced Orange Cacao

First:

Prepare a pot with spices and the like, carefully considering each addition to the water, releasing your powers of tender loving kindness to rest overnight

Now:

Feel pleased with last night’s efforts as you retrieve your infusion to gently heat on the stove

Then:

Stir in the cacao that feels right for you, whisking and wishing it well, possibly adding a twist of salt and a touch of something sweet, as feels right this morning.

Ready:

Sip in the sense of calm care, warmth, and gratitude for the magic that lies at your fingertips as you engage with the world around you.
